John Tagliaferro lives on what was once a dairy farm in the Green Mountains of southern Vermont. Almost every day, he goes out for walks on his property with his Canon G5X in his pocket just in case he comes across anything interesting to photograph. By just being open to seeing, nature rewards him with countless photographic opportunities in the fields and woods on his property. Subjects can include everything from flowers to fall foliage to ice and reflections in brooks and beaver ponds. John is especially interested in nature’s shapes, colors, patterns, and structures that provide more abstract images. The goal is to capture art in nature.

After graduating from Yale and a successful career as a television executive in New York, John was free to pursue his passion for photography. Highly respected photographers Karen Halverson, Tom Blagden and Steve Bliss played important roles in encouraging John and helping to develop his talents.

The medium that John prefers for displaying his work is large aluminum metal prints which he feels most effectively convey the images he creates to the viewer.

John and a classmate started a charity in 2010 called “The Charlie Fund” to benefit the Yale Medical School Department of Neurology in memory of a classmate who died of ALS. Proceeds from the sale of John’s photographs are directed to the fund.
